FREE MUSEUM ADMISSIONS

EVERY FOURTH THURSDAY -- ART AFTER HOURS (Spanish Village, Balboa Park)

Free monthly night-time soirees, where musicians play and hors d'oeuvres are served while Spanish Village art galleries remain open late for browsers. Casual and relaxed atmosphere with wonderful art in participating Village cottages. Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM.  (Normal hours are 11 AM - 4 PM other days). Not sure still happening; please verify before going or combine with another event.

Every SATURDAY MONTHLY -- SCRIPPS RANCH FARMER'S MARKET & ARTS FESTIVAL

Features 50-70 vendors weekly; top quality produce, cut flowers, jewelers, professional entertainers, chair massage, arts and crafters. Specialty foods include Belgian Crepes, Tamales, Rice Bowls, Sambusa, Burritos, Kettle Corn, Bakeries, Smoothies, Gyros and more. Children's Fun Zone: huge jumps and slides.  9 AM - 1 PM E. B. 1st SATURDAY MONTHLY -- POWAY OLD TOWN BOARDWALK CRAFT MARKET

Presented by Poway's Arts & Crafts Guild, event featurs a juried art show plus the sale of traditional arts and crafts by county artists.  14134 Midland Road, Old Poway Park, Poway, CA 92064. Info. (858) 486-3497.

2nd SATURDAY MONTHLY -- ESCONDIDO ART WALK -- 25 galleries, studios, museums, local heaters and the Escondido Antique District open their doors to the public each 2nd Saturday, 5-8 PM.  Artists' forums, receptions, open rehearsals, music and much more!  All along Grand Ave and downtown Escondido. TUES., WED. 1st & 3rd THURS., 2nd & 4th THURS., 2nd FRI., 1st SAT. -- CCHILDREN'S GARDEN, QUAIL GARDENS

This is an interactive garden designed for pint-sized kids--where they can touch things without grown-ups saying "no, no, no.." Tools, tiny clay pots and some educational sessions about howto plant or why squiggly worms and other insects make a garden healtheir are some of the essons children learn.  During visits, kids can roll down a grassy hill, explore the Dinosaur Forest, wander through the "Secret Garden" or visit the Kids' Cottage. Everything is scaled to kid-size at a comfort level they can enjoy.  Ev. Tues: Tales & Tunes, 10 AM - Noon; Ev. Wed., Garden rts & Crafts 10 - 11:30 AM; 1st and 3rd Thurs. Garden Day 10 AM - noon; 2nd and 4th Thurs. Worms, Wings & Crawly Things 10 AM - Noon; 2nd Fri. Friday Fun! 9 AM - 12 PM. 1st Sat. Saturday Arts & Crafts 11 ASM - 1 PM.
